The factors that determine the sharpness of the BD Microlance™ needle are:

Point geometry – three-sided laser sharpening;

a sharp primary cut easily penetrates the tissues. Secondary (or side) cuts, due to the combination of stretching and cutting properties and using the natural elasticity of the skin, allow the needle to pass through the tissue.

 Needle polishing:

A complex polishing process (chemical and physical, including surface treatment with glass microgranules) ensures smooth sliding of the needle during penetration and withdrawal.

Needle lubrication:

BD has a special needle lubrication formula that guarantees its sharpness;

Lubrication reduces the force of friction that occurs when the needle slides through different layers of fabric.
